L’Oreal Wants You to Strike a Pose like the Stars

Awards season has everyone staring at pictures of gorgeous stars dressed to the nines and looking beyond amazing. We look to celebs for hair, makeup, and wardrobe cues, so why can’t turn to them to learn the right poses to create perfect pictures like they can? That’s where L’Oreal Paris comes in. They’ve created an online academy to give you all the tools you need to always look red carpet ready (or Facebook fabulous!). Celebrity event planner Andrea Correale of Elegant Affairs gave terrific tips on how to make love to the camera:

•    Turn three quarters with a shoulder to the camera and one foot in front of the other to look slimmer
•    Keep your smile relaxed; don’t say “Cheese” since it tenses up your smile
•    Focus your eyes just above the camera lens so you’re always looking the right way
•    Rest your hands on your hips or thighs if you’re not sure where your hands should go
•    Tilt your head a little to the side or towards the person towards the person you are posing with

Perfecting your pose in the mirror will give you all the practice, practice, practice you need to shine at your next special event.

Get Sexy S-Waves with TRESemmé

Tracy Reese was one of the hottest shows to hit up during Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week. While we oohed and aahed over how gorgeous the clothes were, we also envied each model’s gorgeous locks. We got the inside scoop from lead hairstylist for the show Jeanie Syfu, as she explained to us how to achieve one of the hottest hair trends for fall 2011 at the TRESemmé Salon & Lounge in Lincoln Center.

Tracy Reese had natural, wavy tresses on the runway without the high-watt shine we’ve been used to the past few season. Syfu used TRESemmé’s 24-Hour Body Mousse throughout the hair and dried it. She then made S-shapes with a curling iron down the length of each lock by twisting it back and forth for deep waves. She set it with the 24-Hour Body Aero Finishing Spray and Fresh Start Dry Shampoo to give it a matte finish. Syfu dusted in touches of red, copper and even blue with the help of spray-on temporary dyes, and the models were set to stun.

Jeanie Syfu puts the finishing touches on a model before the Tracy Reese show.

Looking like a fashion insider has never been easier. (Or more affordable!)

Gucci Just Got a Bit Guiltier – Gucci Guilty

Lately we’ve found ourselves wearing Gucci Guilty (the fragrance) every time we saunter off into the night in search of booze, boys, and a bar to boogie on. (Trust us—it’s the perfect fragrance for this type of debauchery.)

Since we party pretty hard (and for several hours on end), we usually head home in the wee hours of the morning smelling quite… innocent.

Good thing there’s an accompanying ancillary set that helps our favorite scent linger a little longer. By layering Gucci Guilty Eau de Toilette over the Perfumed Shower Gel and Body Lotion, now the sweet smell of guilt will last long after we do.

Kim Kardashian – Soft and Shiny Hair

kim_kardashian_hairFact: Everyone isn’t born with gorgeous lush locks like Kim Kardashian’s. Another fact: A little TLC can make you look like you were. Quickly, the rules:

Keep It Clean
Cleanse and condition your hair and scalp on a normal basis (three times a week max). Build-up from styling products will clog your scalp; remember, it’s skin too, and it needs to breathe. While you’re at it, keep your tools clean as well; wash your brushes and combs every other day, and wipe down your flat irons and curling irons.

Go Natural
Sulfates and parabens aren’t necessarily good for the environment, so why would they be good for your hair? Search for hair care products that feature natural ingredients and/or are certified organic. It may cost a bit more, but can you really put a price on getting gorgeous hair?

Treat Your Tresses
Our new go-to is the Rahua Omega-9 Treatment. First your hair is shampooed and deep-conditioned with the Omega-9 elixir + mask mixture, which is generously applied from root to tip. Next, enjoy an indulgent scalp massage. The treatment is left on for 10-15 minutes, and then it is rinsed out with warm water, immediately followed by cool rinse to seal the hair shaft. Each treatment leaves your mane looking marvelous, as well as soft and shiny.

Dark Skin, Pink Lips: How to Make It Work According to MAC’s Romero

JessicaWhitePinkLipstickMaybelline model Jessica White would look incredibly stunning wearing any lipstick color, but she’s especially gorgeous here with a pretty petal pink pout. We’re a tad bit envious though; we clearly share the exact same complexion, yet we can’t pull off that lip color.

Or can we?

We chatted with Romero—one of MAC‘s marvelous senior makeup artists—at the MAC Wonder Woman SoHo Pop-Up Shop last week, and asked him to impart a bit of his infinite wisdom on us. Here’s what he had to say:

“You have to use a lip pencil (like Chestnut or Cork); it’s really important. You can’t just buy a really bright lip gloss or a lipstick and put it on by itself. I always recommend you use a base of brown lipstick (like Photo). If you’re not a fan of pencil, use a brown lipstick and blot the excess and layer the gloss or lipstick over it. This way you get a balance of the brown (like your complexion) and the bright color at the same time.”

Gucci to Launch a Beauty Line

OliviaWIldeGucciGirls! Now you can wear Gucci on your body, on your feet, on your pulse points, and on your face.

We hear that Procter & Gamble Prestige will extend their current beauty license agreement with the luxury Italian brand. In addition to fragrance, P&G Prestige will now create a full-blown skin care and makeup collection with the Gucci group.

FYI, we’re beyond thrilled, and can only hope that their cosmetics makes us look just as sexy as Gucci Guilty makes us feel.

More details on this exciting news to follow at a later date.

(P.S.: First Giorgio Armani Beauty, then Dolce & Gabanna Makeup, now Gucci. Who’s got next? Will the real Versace please stand up?!)
