Get Runway Ready with NARS

With Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week New York in full swing, we’re not only excited about seeing the gorgeous clothes that will strut down the catwalk, we’re also psyched about the makeup trends the models will be showcasing. We know that NARS will be backstage creating stellar looks for several top-notch designers (Marc Jacobs, Honor Fall, Mandy Coon to name a few), but their Front Row Set will have you looking quite gorgeous and ready to take a front row seat (even if you don’t have an invite). This combination set features the Nouveau Monde Duo eyeshadow, a Mini Multiple in Palm Springs, an Eyeliner Stylo in Nuits Blanches, and their signature Orgasm lip gloss. Looking like a fashion insider has never been easier. (Or more affordable!)

Available at Sephora.com for $59.

NARS to Open First Boutique in NYC

February 10th is shaping up to be quite a busy day for fashionistas.

NarsBleekerStreet

Not only are Vena Cava, Rachel Comey, Mara Hoffman, Wayne, and BCBG showing their AW11 collections, makeup maestro François Nars is set to open his first brick and mortar NARS boutique in the West Village at 413 Bleecker Street, between West 11th and Bank Street. (It’s been 16 years since its inception—it’s about time!)

Fans of NARS are sure to be as overjoyed as we are to finally be able to peruse the their full SKU list.. If you’ll be in town for #NYFW, make sure you make your way downtown to check it out (and shop, obviously).

P.S.: We’ll certainly be there, stocking up on a few tubes of Jungle Red lipstick (shown above).

Temptalia NARS Okinawa Trio Eyeshadow Review

NARS Holiday 2010: Okinawa Trio Eyeshadow

NARS Okinawa Trio Eyeshadow ($45.00 for 0.17 oz.) contains three shades: (as described by NARS) silver, deep cobalt blue, and black onyx. According to Sephora’s description of this trio, the eyeshadows can be used wet to double as eyeliners.

The colors included in the trio are not unique, but they have a beautiful, smooth texture and rich, intense pigmentation that glides on with ease. There is a light silver-white with a frosted finish, medium-dark blue with subtle shimmer-sheen, and a medium-dark black with a satin sheen. These felt smoother and softer than the average NARS eyeshadow.

The silver has the largest portion, while the blue is about half the size and the black a third. It makes sense to have the black be such a thin strip, since you really do not need much black in most looks, but it may be too thin for those who use bigger brushes (say the MAC 252). It’s not a major drawback, as most eyeshadow brushes should be able to maneuver in there, but it was worth noting.

I’m not sure why this is a whopping $45, which is rather killer for a product like this, even for high end. A NARS Eyeshadow Duo contains 0.14 oz. of product and retails for $32, which makes the trio more per ounce (but a better value than the single eyeshadows). The quality is phenomenal, though!

NARS Spring 2010 Makeup Collection

The NARS Spring 2010 Collection

The NARS Spring 2010 Collection, inspired by Catherine Deneuve’s role as Lucille in La Chamade, features soft, sexy shades that are as elegant as they are versatile. The NARS Spring 2010 Collection was photographed by NARS Cosmetics Founder and Creative Director François Nars. François created the makeup look and cast supermodel Amber Valletta, who is a long-time collaborator of his.

Nars created a look that is confident, cosmopolitan and polished. On skin, he applied NARS Fiji Sheer Glow Foundation, followed by NARS Eden Pressed Powder for a perfectly smooth finish. He contoured Amber’s cheeks with NARS Amour Blush then highlighted her complexion with NARS Albatross Highlighting Blush Powder.

On the eyes, François applied the golden moss shade of the NARS Camargue Duo Cream Eyeshadow over the entire upper lid, then blended outward. The sienna shade was used to define the lower lash line with the NARS Push Eyeliner Brush. He then layered the sienna side onto the lid and brow bone, and swept the hue into the lash line. For additional brightness, NARS Albatross Highlighting Blush was dusted onto the eye, and NARS Nabucco Eyeliner Stylo was swept on to line the top lashes. NARS Blondie Single Eyeshadow was used to create an impactful brow. Lastly, two coats of NARS Larger Than Life Lengthening Mascara were applied to the top and bottom lashes.

To complete the look, François lined the lips with NARS Borneo Lipliner Pencil, filled them in with NARS Cruising Lipstick and layered on NARS Easy Lover Lip Gloss for extra shine and fullness.

NARS Spring 2010 Makeup Collection

In this collection you’ll find:

Cruising Lipstick ($24) This subtle, sexy pink lipstick hue provides a sheer natural long-lasting color. The
hydrating formula can be worn alone, or over a NARS Lip Pencil for variations in color and depth. It’s neutral enough to pair perfectly with dramatic eyes, yet alluring enough to attract attention when used on its own.

Easy Lover Lip Gloss ($24) Serious luster meets sexy color in this ultra-sheer hot pink lip gloss. The eyecatching and refreshing springtime hue is perfectly suited to deliver super shiny, sensual lips. An extra dab of it in the center of the bottom lip will accentuate sheen and fullness. It’s impossible to resist.

Ophelia Lip Gloss ($24) This high-shine strawberry nectar lip gloss is deliciously sweet and seductive.
Wear it alone, or over NARS lip products for a more intense effect and color variation. The glossy formula will capture both the light and the attention of admirers.

Purple Rain Nail Polish ($16) This intensely gothic purple is a bright and audacious shade destined to become a modern classic. Boasting a long-wearing formula, this intense nail hue vacillates between opposites: rocker or royalty, rebellious or refined.

D. Gorgeous Single Eyeshadow ($23) This dusty lilac powder eyeshadow yields just a hint of flirtation, but never misses its mark. The long-wearing, crease-resistant matte formula boasts a translucent texture and can be applied sheer, or layered with other NARS products for a bolder result.

Camargue Duo Cream Eyeshadow ($32) Named for the deep, dancing, sun-cast hues found in the French river delta, this pairing of golden moss and sienna, with multi-colored reflections comes in a soft-blending, glistening cream eyeshadow formula. Wear it alone or layered beneath NARS powder eyeshadows to create more color, depth and intensity.

Kuala Lumpur Duo Eyeshadow ($32) Like its Malaysian city namesake, this perfectly harmonized gold infused rose and boysenberry pairing is influenced by contrasts—rich and subtle, traditional yet modern. Wear the two shades separately or together, sheer or layered for a more dramatic effect. Try swiping one shade over the entire eyelid and applying the other just beneath the brow bone to highlight.

Bains Douches Glitter Pencil ($24) This bright sky blue, silver glitter-infused hue delivers powerful, vibrant color that slides on smooth and remains creamy for blending. Use this glitter pencil layered
or alone—to line, accent, highlight or illuminate the eyes. No matter how it’s used, the look will be as ultra-chic as the legendary Parisian nightclub for which it was named.

The NARS Spring 2010 Collection is available beginning January 15, 2010 at NARS counters and online at narscosmetics.com
